SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, November 19, 2025 – MetaSource, LLC (“MetaSource”), a leading provider of mortgage quality control (QC) services, released its Annual Servicing QC Findings Report that identifies repositioning as the primary factor behind QC defects throughout 2024.
During its comprehensive analysis of the year’s defects, the MetaSource Team found that repositioning took two distinct forms. External portfolio transfers and internal shifts in responsibility, both largely driven by cost-reduction efforts during the low-volume period, created a dual-layer disruption that significantly impacted servicers’ compliance performance.
“2024 was a year of fundamental shifts in mortgage servicing,” said John Morales, MetaSource’s Servicing QC Manager. “Our analysis shows a clear correlation between repositioning activities and QC defect rates. Understanding this connection will be critical for servicers looking to strengthen compliance going forward.”
Morales noted that the MetaSource Team observed an increase in findings relative to portfolio size due to the high volume of transfers. The team also concluded that elevated default activity and ongoing escrow management issues compounded compliance pressures during these transitional periods.
